Catalogue Note

Whilst Jan van Goyen was a key exponent of painting in the monochrome style, he did from time to time produce more colourful pictures. The palette here is still limited to mainly browns, greens and yellows, but this landscape differs from many of his works in its warm, golden sunlight.
