Literature

B.G. Maillet, Intérieurs D'Églises, La Peinture Architecturale des Écoles du Nord 1580-1720, Wijnegem 2012, p. 315, cat. no. M-0823, reproduced.

Condition

The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is slightly dirty and there is a rather thick, slightly discoloured varnish. A scratch has led to a 1 cm. long loss, lower left, between the two girls and the lady behind them (visible in the catalogue illustration). The varnish fluoresces opaquely under ultraviolet light impeding discernment of previous restoration, although more recent, very minor retouching is found in the upper left corner and on the lower and left margins. In overall very good condition.
