Condition
The panel is uncradled, with a lip and concentric bevels on the reverse, as if it might once have been the lid of a box. The paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish beneath which it is difficult to discern previous restoration, although there appear to be very small and very few spot retouchings around the edge of the sitter's face. In overall very good condition.
