Condition

Overall, the condition of the wood is good, with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. The wood has probably been stripped of polychromy. The proper right hand is a later replacement and a section of the sleeve on the proper right arm is either restored or reattached. There is stable splitting to the wood throughout, consistent with the material, including some slightly open splits, in particular to the face, the back of the neck, the chest and to the devil. A few splits have been filled with wood, notably at the face, the proper left shoulder, the proper left hand and sleeve, and to the base. Minor evidence of past worming is visible, including to the garment on the proper right side, and to the back. There is an old nail to the back, and two modern hooks for mounting to the top and the bottom at the reverse.
