Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good, with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. The polychromy and gilding have largely worn, revealing the white ground for the polychromy. Several traces of gilding and polychromy remain. There is rubbing also to the white ground at the high points. There is some evidence of past worming, in particular - but not limited to - the figures at the sides, and to the back. The blade of the executioner's sword is lost. There is a metal hook for mounting on the reverse.
