Condition

Larger casket: Overall the condition of the casket is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some rubbing to the etching, including at the front. There are several spots of darkening and oxidation to the metal. There are some minor areas with corrosion, notably around some of the mounts on the lid and to the front left and back right corners. One of the ball feet is very slightly loose and the casket rocks slightly on an even surface. There is also wear, including losses and oxidation to the blued steel interior of the lid, where there seems to be a loss to one of the metal leaves that decorate the locking mechanism. Smaller casket: Overall the condition of the casket is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age, including minor warping. There is some darkening and oxidation to the iron in most areas, and in particular around the sides. There are two small holes at the bottom. A few of the brass studs are lost. Two of the knob feet are slightly loose but stable and the casket rocks slightly on an even surface.
