Condition
Overall the condition of the cameo is good, with some wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. The stone is mottled, with specks of grey throughout. There are a few restored breaks to the cameo, with several visible joints, including to the top left corner, the centre at the top, and around the bottom. Some glue residue is slightly visible around some of the joints. There are a few minor chips, in particular around the joints, and including to one of the bottom putti's proper left elbow, the other bottom putto's proper left wing, the trumpet of the putto at the top, and the torch of the other putto at the top, as well as Neptune's staff. There is a small loss to the upper edge on the right side.
The silver frame is in good condition with some wear, including minor warping and several minor nicks and scratches. There is a hook for hanging at the back.
The cameo is accompanied by a green leather box lined with cream satin and velvet. There is some wear to the box consistent with use.
