Description
- Pair of candlesticks
- gilt and polychromed wood, with metal fittings
- Northern Italian or Tyrolean, late 16th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the candlesticks is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is wear to the gilding and polychromy throughout, including areas of loss and flaking. One of the scrolls at the top of one of the candlesticks is lost, and there are a few further more minor losses, including to one of the scrolls on the other candlestick. There is some evidence of past worming to both sticks. The base sections are probably later. There is some corrosion to the metal fittings at the top.
