Catalogue Note
This beautiful marble is clearly inspired by the Venus de'Medici from the Tribuna of the Uffizi, which was the most celebrated antiquity in 18th-century Florence. The bared breast is a convention often seen in French 18th-century sculpture and so may indicate that the marble was carved in France.
