inscribed: 9375 and: 8739 in red and blue pencil on the reverse

Condition

Overall the condition of the terracotta is good, with minor wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is a slip to the surface which may conceal some condition points. There are a few minor chips, including to the foliage at the top. There are a few light abrasions and dirt marks at the high points, including to the Virgin's proper right knee. There is particular dirt in the crevices. There is some glue residue to the back in 2 areas which may have been applied to stabilise firing fissures consistent with the material. The frame is in very good condition with minor wear to the paintwork and gilding. There is a metal hook for hanging at the top.
