With Hazlitt Gooden & Fox, London, by December 2002, from whom acquired by the present owner.
Condition
The panel derives from a single, uncradled, thick plank. The paint surface is clean and the varnish clear and even, with the impasto still intact. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered pinprick retouchings in the clouds, and a more concentrated band of retouching along the upper margin, less than 2 cm. wide at its greatest width. There is also a thin band of retouching down the right margin in the upper corner, approx. 0.5 cm. wide. In very good overall condition.
