Condition

The panel is constructed from a single, uncradled plank which is flat and stable. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. The minute details are beautifully preserved. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals minor, scattered spot retouching in the sky mainly around the two ships, following the horizontal wood grains. There is also a band of retouching on the upper margin and in the upper right corner, as well as some scattered pinprick retouchings in the sky on the right. In overall good condition.
