after François Boucher, 'Le Batteur en Granges' modelled as a young farmhand holding a scythe in his right hand resting against a tree trunk, incised JB monogram for Jean-Jacques Bachelier at the back of the trunk, 'La Batteuse de Beurre' as a milk-maid churning butter, both upon square bases, the mounts of square form, with a shaped apron applied with acanthus, on fluted bracket feet,

Condition

To the male figure there is a small chip to the lower edge of his jacket. To the female figure, an upturned fold at the top of her skirt is chipped, there is a faint hairline crack around her lower back, The surface of each figure is a little dirty.

The JB monogram belongs to Jean-Jacques Bachelier, Director of the atelier de sculpture at Vincennes and Sèvres from 1751-57 and again in 1760-1773.
