A Dutch quarter striking walnut longcase clock with alarm and barometer/thermometer, Gerrit Van Der Heij, Amsterdam, circa 1740

13-inch dial with engraved border and rococo spandrels, signed Gerrit Van Der Heij, Amsterdam, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and engraved date aperture, further sectors for day and month with symbols and ruling deities, central alarm disc, ringed winding holes, the silvered and engraved arch with a moon dial, the movement with anchor escapement and Dutch quarter striking on two bells, the alarm acting on the larger bell, the case surmounted by three giltwood figures above carved and moulded cornice and foliate frets, brass-capped hood pilasters, the shaped trunk door inset with a brass barometer and thermometer scale signed Paulus Wast fecit Amsterdam, brass lenticel, the shaped plinth on bun feet, the whole veneered with well figured wood and inlaid with chequer stringing 

Dial in good clean condition, painting to moon dial refreshed. Movement is complete and looks as though it would run but needs a clean and fresh oil. Case has old alterations to top cresting, figures replaced, otherwise generally good throughout, small door moulding detached but we have it, with some old minor cracks and marks. With pendulum, two brass-cased weights, alarm weight, winder and case key.
