Condition
The canvas is unlined, the paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish has darkened. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an old and slightly uneven, milky varnish, and some strengthening to the dark background around the sitter's head. There is otherwise no apparent intervention. The painting is in overall good condition.
