- mother of pearl, wood, gauze, spangle,
watercolour on paper, signed A. Gomez centre right, under glazed frame, lunette: 69 by 34cm., 27 by 13¼in ; and two fans, the first, the purple-tinted mother-of-pearl sticks and guards gilt with flowers and scrolls, applied with the mother of pearl cypher of Maria Antoinetta, Princess of Calabria, Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (1851-1938), the black gauze leaf with purple and gilt spangles forming the name 'Antonietta', in a silk-covered paper case with label 'Maison Rebours, 10 Rue Richepance', 28cm., 11 in long; the second, plain wood sticks and guards, the fabric leaf painted by Queen Maria Theresia of Bavaria (1849-1919), with a view of her country house, Villa Amsee, on one side, a view of the town of Lindau on the other, suspension loop with tassel, 33cm., 13 in long

Condition
Fan leaf: The artist's sheet has been cut in a lunette shape, and is hinged to the mount on the reverse. There is some light surface dirt and some scattered spots of foxing. The picture is overall in good condition and ready to hang.
Fan 1: leaf detached from some sticks and some tears to edges, some spangles missings.
Fan 2: some light stains to leaf

Catalogue Note
Maria Antonietta, Princess of Calabria, Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (1851-1938) was a Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies by birth and by her marriage to Prince Alfonso, Count of Caserta, claimant to the defunct throne of the Two-Sicilies. She was the grand daughter of Queen Maria Theresia of Bavaria (1849-1919), painter of the second fan, last Queen of Bavaria. The Queen painted her country house Villa Amsee, in Lindau, lake of Constance.
