Description

  • Silver
all engraved with the arms of the Bavarian Royal family, comprising: a shaped oval meat platter, 45.2cm., 17 3/4in. long, a shaped circular cake stand, 26.2cm., 10 1/2in. diameter, a shaped circular seven-bottle cruet stand, 28.6cm., 11 1/4in. high, a shaped oval double-lipped two-handled sauceboat, 14cm., 5 1/2 in. high, an octagonal galleried tray, with pierced and beaded border, 29.1cm., 11 1/2in. long, together with ten shaped-circular soup plates, Theodor Heiden, Munich, 24.1cm., 9 1/2 in. diameter, six shaped circular dessert plates, Carl Weishaupt, Munich, 24.1cm., 9 1/2 in. diameter, a shaped circular vegetable dish, same maker, 22.2cm., 8 3/4in. diameter, a crumb scoop and silver handled brush, same maker, 24.1cm, 9 1/2 in. long and six small electroplated dishes, applied with the crowned monogram of King Otto I of Bavaria, 8.9cm., 3 1/2 in. diameter

Thence by descent.

Much of this suite was commissioned for the wedding of Princess Maria of Bavaria (1872-1954) upon her marriage to Ferdinand, Duke of Calabria, Prince of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, in 1897.

Condition

Generally good used condition with fine surface scratches and light pitting in places commensurate with age. The crumb brush with large repair to handle junction.
