An Italian gilt-bronze and pietre dure mounted and ivory inlaid ebony cabinet on cabinet the upper section late 19th century, the lower section later and incorporating late 19th century elements

the top with a hinged compartment, above architectural front with central pedimented door surrounded by drawers with their interiors gold japanned, all decorated with ivory and hardstones including lapis lazuli and jaspers, on a two door cabinet with single top drawer, inlaid with ivory, marbles and hardstones, all on lion carved feet

The upper section is in overall good conserved condition. With some minor repairs and replacements to the veneers and the inlaid hard stone decoration. Top compartment lid restored. One gilt brass finial is lacking to a short drawer and one putti headed pilaster to the central cupboard is lacking its hard stones but has been painted to simulate them. The locking mechanism has been removed from the top section and filled in. With some minor old marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. The base is in reasonable condition with some minor splits to the left return.
