Description

  • walnut
  • approx 267cm. high, 238cm. wide, 76cm. deep; 8ft. 9in., 7ft. 9¾in., 2ft. 5¾in.
the upper section with an overhanging cornice above a dentil moulding, guttae and metopes above two panelled doors with rectangular mouldings with inverted corners flanked by pilasters enclosing two later shelves, the lower section with a dummy frieze drawer flanked by two short drawers above two cupboard doors enclosing one long and one short shelf on an inverted breakfront plinth base

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Colour slightly darker and more natural attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Old marks, chips and scratches and some minor losses especially to the top of the right and left side edge of the cornice. Evidence of old minor worm which appears to be no longer active. There are some minor replacements generally eg rear right edge 30cm x 2.5cm piece on upper section and other scattered minor replacements. There are some construction cracks commensurate with age and age cracks generally especially to the lower doors which can easily be filled. There is also some minor damage to the veneer on the upper right door where the lockplate has been attached.The colour is slightly uneven and would benefit from a repolish according to taste. Some age cracks show evidence of being restored in the past and are darker in colour than the rest and would benefit from some minor attention. The central drawer pulls out to reveal a veneered writing slide with some minor water staining/
