- a set of eight, all oil on canvas
Eight landscapes
Condition
All eight canvases have been relined, the paint surfaces are rather dirty, and the varnishes are discoloured and fluoresce milkily under ultraviolet light. There are small areas of retouching in all the pictures, most notably in the sky of the port scene illustrated upper left; in the sky, upper right, and the sea, lower left, in the port scene illustrated centre right; throughout the sky of the landscape illustrated upper right, which also has a small loss in the foliage of the tree, centre left; and throughout the skies and foregrounds of the two unframed paintings. Altogether, the works are in fair condition.
