Catalogue Note
This is a Strassburg reprint of Huttich's work on the portraits of the Roman emperors from Caesar to François I, with the roundel portraits copied from the original white-on-black woodcuts by Hans Weiditz. The text is edited by Joannes Sambucus (see lots 80-81), who studied in Strassburg briefly in 1550.
