3 volumes, 8vo (208 x 139mm.), contemporary brown buckram tooled in gold and blind with title lettered in gold on covers, some annotations in pencil (a few in red pencil in volume 1), a duplicate of gathering 14 present in volume 1, without half-titles and final blanks at end of volumes 2 and 3, small marginal tear at foot of p.171 in volume 1, small inkstain at foot of pp. 137-155 in volume 2, small tear at head of p.325 in volume 2 and p.203 in volume 3, spine starting to come away from the textblock in the first volume, first two volumes slightly rubbed, small tear at head of upper joint of volume 3, volume 3 recased with new endpapers and spine lining

FIRST COMPLETE EDITION OF ANNA KARENINA, one of the finest novels of the nineteenth century. All but the final part were serialised in Russkii Vestnik between 1875 and 1877, but the editor refused the final part on the grounds of immorality.
