Catalogue Note
The first edition of Graf's woodcuts was printed in Strassburg in c. 1506; this is probably the sixth edition. Graf (c. 1485-1528), a Swiss artist and mercenary, had a colourful history, but he produced many fine woodcuts for book illustrations, predominantly in Basel. The other woodcut is a crude copy of Martin Schongauer's engraving of the Resurrection (Hollstein 30).
