Catalogue Note

This is a counterfeit of the Aldine edition of 1505 and the Giunta edition of 1510, complete with the red fleur-de-lys on the title-page which Trot used on his counterfeit editions. Two issues are known, one with the date of 30 January "15[0]9" in the colophon (the "0" has been added in manuscript in this copy), and one without. Despite the printed dated of 15[0]9, this must post-date the Giunta 1510 edition, and Shaw assigns the date of printing to between 1510 and 1512 on typographical grounds. The volume closes with Aldus's address to his learned readers.

The panel used on both covers of the binding depicts the Three Marys and is signed "JEHAN NORVIS".
