Catalogue Note
FIRST EDITION of Scamozzi's monumental architectural compilation, containing books 1-3 and 6-8 of the projected ten books, which were not completed before Scamozzi died in 1616. Somewhat unusually, the corrector of the text, Antonio Ramiro, is named at the end of each section. The book had more influence in northern than southern Europe, and many adaptations and translations were made through to the early nineteenth century.
