Chancery folio (285 x 195mm.), 453 leaves (of 455), [a-h10 i-l12 m-s10 t-v12 x-z10 A-E10 F-I12 K-M10 N12 O-Q10 R12 S10 T12 V11], double column, 51-54 lines plus headline, gothic type, a2 supplied in neat manuscript facsimile with pen and ink decorated initial with marginal extensions, 6- to 8-line initials in red and blue, 2- and 3-line initials in red, red initial-strokes, French eighteenth-century red morocco, triple gilt fillet border, spine gilt in compartments with green morocco lettering-piece, gilt edges, some deckle edges, some manuscript quiring, lacking a1 (blank) and a2, a few wormholes, small tear in margin of [M]6, extremities slightly rubbed

possibly Duc de La Vallière (pencil note on flyleaf), though the copy listed in his 1783 sale catalogue (lot 29) was in 2 volumes in red morocco
