Catalogue Note

An important literary publication associated with the Symbolist movement. These five issues include contributions by Stéphane Mallarmé, Paul Verlaine, Walt Whitman and J.-K. Huysmans, as well as the first printing of Rimbaud's Les Illuminations, parts two to five (see lot 181 for the first book edition). Gustave Kahn (1859-1936), the editor, was a French Symbolist poet and art critic.
