Strindberg's correspondent was the German writer Emil Schering (1873-1951), from 1897 editor of the Berliner Herold, and from 1898 editor of the journal Quickborn. An important supporter of Strindberg, he is perhaps best known for his translation of Strindberg's works into German (published in 47 volumes between 1902 and 1930).
