Catalogue Note

Þórður Þorláksson (1637-1697) was a bishop of Skálholt from 1674. In this work he lays out the story of early Christianity in Iceland.

Only one printing press was active in early modern Iceland, originally at Holár from the sixteenth century, transferring to Skálhot for 15 years in the later seventeenth century, before returning to Holár. This is one of the first sagas to be printed in Iceland.
