Condition

Unexamined out of frame. The cardboard appears sound. There are pin holes visible in all four corners. There is minor scuffing to the extreme edges, in keeping with the nature of the Artist's and working methods. There is craquelure to the sea area, and a small fleck of loss in the upper right section of the sea, with a few further traces of slight loss in this area. Elsewhere there is surface dirt and traces of studio detritus, again in keeping with the nature of the artist's working methods, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor areas of fluorescence and probable retouching in the bottom left edge, along the extreme edge, as well as a further area in the green in the upper right quadrant. These have been sensitively executed. Housed behind glass in a silver gilt frame, float-mounted on a textured background. Unexamined out of frame.
