Condition

The board appears sound. Nails have been used to affix the upper board to another backing board, and in places the painted nail heads are visible around the edges of the work. In one or two instances there is some associated discolouration, craquelure and paint loss around these nail heads. There are one or two instances of rubbing and wear around the extreme edges of the board, most apparent in the corners of the work, and one or two spots of paint loss and craquelure. In one or two instances, there are some extremely tiny, fine lines of craquelure to the work, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There are a couple of small instances of minor lifting and loss to the pale blue pigment in the lower right quadrant, only visible upon very close inspection, with a couple of minor possible instances visible in the top left quadrant. There is some light surface dirt across the work. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of fluorescence, which are thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials. The work is tightly float mounted within a painted wooden frame.
