The illustration of the catalog is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable scratches and marks due to age and use. A few chips to the gilding on exposed areas.

Catalogue Note
Un lit similaire est conservé au musée des Arts décoratifs à Paris, il illustre le goût pour le style Renaissance présent dans la veine romantique qui se développait à cette période. La fonte, matériau industriel par nature, est ici associée à la volupté à travers les thèmes du décor. Ce qui peut apparaître comme un paradoxe est entretenu sur le lit du musée des Arts décoratifs par l'utilisation du faux bois peint en trompe-l'oeil, à défaut d'une fabrication traditionnelle en bois sculpté.
