Condition
Illustration is accurate. Good overall condition. As expected, a few stains and edge chips to the marble top.
Bronze mounts slightly tarnished and rubbed.
The veneer : some horizontal cracks on the three main panels on the front and a few old patched restorations on the middle panel. Impressive and architectural piece of furniture, unusual and very elegant design.

Catalogue Note
Charles Erdman Richter, ébéniste reçu maître en 1784
Richter produisait des meubles en acajou de qualité et fournissait également d'autres ébénistes, tels que Riesener : plusieurs meubles portant leurs deux estampilles attestent de cette collaboration, notamment une commode passée en vente à la Galerie Charpentier à Paris, le 30 mai 1951, lot 5, et un secrétaire, vendu chez Christie's à New York, le 21 mai 1997, lot 625.
On relève aussi une parenté notable entre son oeuvre et celle de Weisweiler : ici, la partie supérieure de la façade divisée en trois panneaux, les montants en colonne cannelée détachée et les pieds en toupie ne sont pas sans rappeler les commodes à trois vantaux dites "à brisure", typiques de la production de Weisweiler.
