Georges-Adrien Merlet, émailleur (1754-?)
Le succès du modèle conçu pour Madame Geoffrin (1699-1777) par le sculpteur Laurent Guiard (1723-1788) et le fondeur Edme Roy (maître en 1745) ne se démentit pas tout au long de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle. Grâce à l'entremise des marchands-merciers, Julien Le Roy fut l'horloger qui fournit la plupart des mouvements pour ce modèle : sa signature se retrouve notamment sur les exemplaires du duc de Bourgogne, du comte du Luc, d'Horace Walpole, du duc de La Vrillière, du marquis de Vintimille, de la duchesse de Mazarin ou encore du comte de Besenval (C. Baulez, op. cit. p. 38).
De nos jours, un modèle similaire de Julien Le Roy est conservé à Waddesdon Manor (G. de Bellaigue, The James A. de Rothschild Collection at Waddeson Manor, Fribourg, 1974, Vol.I, no. 17, pp. 104-107).
