Condition

The paint looks too cream : actually it is more white. As said, it has been repainted in the past decades. Sound and sturdy : wooden blocks under the seatrail to strengthen the structure. Upholstery in good condition. Fine carving and unusual model, ready to use.

Catalogue Note

Une bergère d'un dessin assez proche est conservée au Musée Nissim de Camondo (inv. CAM 136), attribuée à Jean-René Nadal l'Aîné et datée vers 1775 : elle présente une marque du garde-meuble du comte d'Artois. Moïse de Camondo acquit ce fauteuil lors de la vente de la collection Jacques Doucet en 1912.
