Description

  • huanghuali
of circular section, the top of the stand made of six joined curved members joined together, resting on a recessed waist, bulging to a beaded-edged apron and six curved legs ending in hoof feet, all joined to the circular floor stretchers below with six short feet beneath, the stand beautifully crafted with well-figured timber of tight grains

Condition

There is typical surface wear, age cracks and minor bruises to the fragile extremities.

Catalogue Note

Circular stands made in huanghuali wood are very rare. This stand of beautiful form has inward curving legs ending in crisp hoof feet. The circular frame with an opening is fashioned to hold a vessel but as to what type of vessel is not certain.
