Colours tonally in the catalogue photograph are correct. In reality the appearance is lighter and more attractive, with sienna tones and highlights of yellow, white and blue. The pile overall is around 1mm and down to knot heads generally and foundation in areas. Due to low pile some areas have had some pile added in areas such as yellow and blue for definition. There are small areas of repair overall, for example to the motifs running vertically up the centre of the main field, visible in the photographs as the light - white areas in the catalogue photograph. Also repair to light area of lozenge in top border. Some of the madder ground in the centre has been rewoven, as visible in the photograph as as the light areas. Some repiling within indigo of corner spandrels. Diagonal repaired split in right hand border, just left of lower madder lozenge.
Both end guards (hooked narrow borders) are later additions at both ends. There are also small sections of later border in the side sections, for example centre left border and small section further up left side. Both ends overlocked. Both sides with later overcast side cords.
Condition is reflected in the estimate. In stable restored condition. Especially lovely drawing to border design.
