c.187x130mm, paper, i(vellum)+243+ii(vellum) leaves, 21 quires alternating 10 and 14 leaves, except quire xii also 10 leaves and last quire xxi4+1, 2 columns, each 31 lines, in a neat small bolorgir hand, black and red ink, 3 HEADPIECES WITH INITIALS FORMED OF BIRDS AND MARGINAL DECORATION, outer edges affected by water damage, some margins repaired, contemporary binding of tan calf over boards blindstamped with rectangular and diagonal double fillets, a half-length flap, with silver gilt rosette studs and their rings, missing the ties

Provenance

(1) The colophon on ff.242v-243 states that the manuscript was COPIED BY THE SCRIBE ASTUADSATUR during the catholicate of Simeon [i.e. I Erevantsi, 1763–80] in Aleppo (Syria). (2) Said to be from the library of the Armenian scholar and patriarch of Constantinople M. Ormanian (1841–1918).
