Condition

The panel appears to be made of a single board and is flat and stable. The paint surface overall is in good condition though dirty beneath an old varnish. There is a very fine crack crack running vertically approx. 3 in. from the center of the lower edge with a very minor resulting loss and two retouched surface crack in the background above the child's head, upper right. There is an area of what appears to be old discolored repaint in the area above the child's head, as visible in the catalogue image. Inspection under UV is impeded by a milky varnish though reveals retouching to the area surrounding the aforementioned cracks and other minor retouched losses scattered throughout. The painting would benefit from a clean and revarnish. Offered in an elaborately carved gilt wood frame.
