Description
- Portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, in a white gown and lace cap, seated and playing a mandolin
- oil on canvas

Charles Wilmers (according to an old label on the reverse).
Condition
There is a glue relining which is firm and stable. The painting is presentable and can be hung as is. Overall the paint surface has been well retained and there is very nice detail throughout. Examination under UV reveals some cosmetic inpainting of craquelure in face, costume, arm, hand and guitar. A few others can be seen in the background. These have been well applied and there is no need for further work.
Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with a loss to the upper right corner.
