Condition
There is an old wax relining and the surface has been a bit pressed as a result. Overall the painting reads well. There are areas of the composition where the paint surface is thin and the reddish ground can be seen. This is most apparent in the upper sky area, in the water, and in the landscape at right side. This may be due to the paint having been thinly applied to begin with. Under UV light: there is retouching along the upper edge and small dots of retouching throughout the sky. There is a diagonal area of retouching at center right, probably to address an old surface scratch. Only a very few retouches here and there in landscape and water.
In a carved and gilt wood frame with minor losses.
