Condition

The painting presents a strong image and the paint surface is clean beneath a clear, fresh varnish. The canvas has a modern glue relining which is flat and stable. Inspection under UV reveals retouching and strengthening scattered throughout the background and drapery. There is retouching to what appear to be small horizontal repaired tears including in the background upper right, another upper left and in the forehead, though these are not visible to the naked eye. The painting requires no further work and is ready to hang in its present state. Offered in a period black and gilt wood frame with punched decoration.
