Catalogue Note
Though the quality of this accomplished and energetic drawing cannot be disputed, its attribution remains the subject of some discussion. A plausible solution might well be Anthonie Waterloo, to whom another drawing that is clearly by the same hand as this was attributed in 2004,1 but in the absence of any firm evidence to back it up, this suggestion must remain speculative.
