The cigarette case of two tone gold reeded pattern, the thumbpiece set with calibré-cut sapphires, signed Bulgari, numbered, case stamped Bulgari; the powder compact of basket woven gold, opening to reveal a powder compartment and a mirror, the thumbpiece set with circular-cut diamonds, signed Sterlé, numbered, French assay and maker's marks, pouch; total gross weight approximately 416 grams.
Provenance
Mrs. Kathleen Zervudachi Venizelos (1897-1983), wife of prominent Greek politician Sophoklis Venizelos who served as Prime Minister of Greece three times, in 1944, 1950 and 1951. Sophoklis was the second son of Eleftherios Venizelos, one of Greece's leading statesmen, leader of the Liberal Party, Prime Minister twice between 1910 and 1933, and considered the founder of modern Greece.
