The brooch designed as a dog, the eye set with a circular-cut ruby and single-cut diamonds, its collar highlighted with circular-cut rubies, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered, French assay and maker's marks; each ear clip of foliate design decorated with circular-cut rubies, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered, French assay and maker's marks. 

Condition

Brooch signed VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, numbered 96024, French maker's mark, French assay mark and stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Rubies well matched in colour, purplish red of medium strong saturation, with typical inclusions, abrasions, nicks and cavities. Signs of normal wear to the metal. Ear clips signed VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, numbered 91214, French maker's mark, French assay marks and stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Rubies well matched in colour, purplish red of medium strong saturation, with typical surface reaching inclusions, abrasions and chips. Signs of normal wear to the metal. Total gross weight approximately 38 grams.
