Condition

Original canvas, there are a couple of tiny pressure marks visible to the bottom left hand edge. There are fine traces of reticulation and craquelure visible to the maroon pigment on the left hand side of the composition. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a small area of fluorescence and probable retouching to the left hand side of the extreme lower edge, most probably in line with an old frame abrasion. This has been very sensitively executed. Housed in a thick gilt and painted wooden frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
