Exhibited

London, Marlborough Fine Art, John Wonnacott, 17th December 1980 - 31st January 1981, cat. no.4.

Condition

Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly in places, but otherwise appears sound. There is a scratch to the dark blue pigment of the sky, with some associated flecks of loss. There is a small area of rubbing to the right side of the lower horizontal edge. There is an extremely faint pressure mark to the cream pigment towards the top of the right vertical edge, with one or two tiny lines of associated craquleure, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There are one or two further instances of extremely minor lines of very fine craquleure to the cream pigment in places, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There is some light surface dirt and staining apparent to the pavement area. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of fluorescence, which are thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials. The work is presented in a black painted wooden frame.
