Condition
The canvas is lined. There are some small areas of frame abrasion at the edges of the canvas. On close examination, it is possible to see a small area of paint cracking and lifting at the centre of the lower edge. There are further tiny flecks of paint loss in the dark blue-black pigment at the centre right of the composition, visible upon very close inspection. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals some small flecks of florescence in the yellow apple in the lower left of the composition and with further very minor traces to the aforementioned frame abrasions along the lower horizontal edge.
The work is presented in a paint and gilt effect frame.
