Condition

The board appears sound. There is a pinhole in each of the four corners, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's materials. There is some light rubbing around the extreme edges of the board, and the board is slightly uneven in the upper left corner. There are some scattered tiny losses, visible upon extremely close inspection. There is some slight uneveness to the board to the left of the chin of the bottom right figure, and there is a small nick to the left arm of that figure. There is some light surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some spots of fluorescence which appear to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There are some scattered flecks of retouching, primarily to the face of the figure on the right, with further minor traces appearing elsewhere. These have been sensitively executed. The work is float mounted and housed in a painted and gilded wooden frame, held under glass.
