Condition

Not viewed out of the frame. There is some slight wear to the board in the upper left corner, but otherwise the board appears sound. There are two slight scratches apparent to the ochre pigment towards the lower right vertical edge, and a slight knock to the left of the woman's lap. There is some slight rubbing to some of the raised impasto tips. There are some minor lines of scattered craquelure and reticulation, primarily apparent to the black pigment, and some small flecks of associated loss. There are also a few minor lines of craquelure apparent to the woman's face. There is a small loss in the lower left corner. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish layer. There is some minor fluorescence which is thought to be inkeeping with the artist's materials. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame which allows both sides of the board to be seen.
